Guys! I decided to take on the December challenge!! Where you read the book of Luke - every day until Christmas... Who is joining me? So far I have completed 3 days. However, I have reached a point in the scripture so far that is so impactful to me. As a devoted believer in Christ, I have run into many so called "Christians". Who are in other words.. not really christian. As I begin the 3rd chapter it begins to look into the ministry of John. He passionately spoke on repentance and the change of ones heart.
Now here is where we are: 'So he began saying to the crowds who were coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath [of God that is] to come? Therefore produce fruit that is worthy of [and consistent with your] repentance [that is, live changed lives, turn from sin and seek God and His righteousness]. And do not even begin to say to yourselves [as a defense], ‘We have Abraham for our father [and so our heritage assures us of salvation]’; for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children (descendants) for Abraham [for God can replace the unrepentant, regardless of their heritage, with those who are obedient]. [Matt 3:9] '
-Luke 3:7-8
I put in bold the key part. In other words, do not be a believer who depends on mere acts and not real change of heart. Do not continue to sin or walk in sin just because you got baptized or you went to church one day and said you believe in Christ. Yet truly change.
