Chapter 4 of Luke never fails to reveal beautiful truths within it. Telling the story of Christ but also sharing the power of knowing the Word of God and walking in Spirit. As the chapter opens up with the temptations of the devil, it marks a significant teaching point for us believers. Everyday we are tempted and challenged of our faith but the question is... How will we fight back? What is our defense? What do we put our trust into? A part that many people can overlook is the fact that the Spirit led Jesus there. Focus on that. God, the Holy Spirit, led Him there, as a way of testing. Highlighting the intentionality of God (we spoke on that in Episode 6). Secondly, Jesus was at a "weak point" (vs.2) - He was not weak spiritually but in His flesh He had not eaten for 40 days and 40 nights... He was in a position where He could have easily given into the temptation and fallen right into the trap of Satan. However there is a key factor to consider that allowed Jesus to overcome this: The Armor of God. Jesus used His double-edged sword called the "Word of God" (Ephesians 6:17, Hebrews 4:12) to combat the enemy. In the end, Jesus overcame the enemy. Not by His own might but by the power of the tongue and using the words of God. Now I will ask you, How do you choose to fight your battles? Lord Jesus, strengthen the reader that is reading this. Let this be encouraging and fulfilling to their soul to fight their battles on their own. You are with us always, and Your word is alive and active.
I taught on this scripture in my discord server before... but it is so powerful that I should recap on it on my podcast! Look forward for it! <3
